Itinerary Stop: Dunguaire Castle Medieval Banquet

Try a touristy, but fun night while touring Ireland! One thing that’s great about this banquet is it is situated between the Cliffs of Moher and Galway, making it a convenient, fun family stop while traveling up the West coast of Ireland.

Dunguaire Castle is located in the town of Kinvara (also spelled Kinvarra). The Dunguaire Castle Medieval Banquet itself is just over two hours. When we went it was 5:30-7:45 pm. (TIP: If you arrive a few minutes early, sitting outside the castle makes for some good family photos.)

The banquet is a fun evening that includes a tour of the castle with costumed, in-character actors showing kids and adults alike, what it might have been like to live (and eat) in the castle. The live entertainment is fun and gives outgoing kids a chance to participate and maybe play a little harp.

There are plenty of other medieval and castle banquets throughout Ireland and they make a good stop on your itinerary to keep the kids entertained and provide a bit different atmosphere than they’re used to!
