Are you worried about traveling with kids? There are a lot of moving parts to family travel: the planning, the booking, the packing.

We’ve had many travel plans go awry: cancelled or delayed flights, cancelled or overbooked activities, hotel reservation problems, forgotten snacks. We’ve had tick bites, stomach flu, infected bug bites and sleepless nights.

The best piece of advice that I learned long ago and still stands true today is: YOU make any destination fun!

The best piece of advice that I learned long ago and still stands true today is: You make any destination fun!

The actual traveling to a new place is, in and of itself, one of the most fun parts of travel for children. ANY destination can be fun when you are all together and enjoy each other’s company. It may sound simple or even silly, but kids can have fun anywhere–whether it’s zip lining through the mountains or playing a family game of Crazy 8’s stuck at the airport.

Make the best of any situation:

  • Find a hotel pool
  • Play at a local playground
  • Find an outdoor space or just go for a walk and play I-Spy
  • Eat at a restaurant and *gasp* let the kids order dessert
  • Play cards, tic-tac-toe or another game with the family
